County Longford small business receives award from ‘Dragon’ Theo Papthitis
Granard-based small business Wordhouse Writing Services in Co Longford received an award last night at Birmingham’s ICC from ‘Dragon’s Den’ founder Theo Paphitis.
The award, known as ‘Small Business Sunday’, involves small businesses pitching to Theo Paphitis on Twitter between 5.30 pm and 7 pm every Sunday using the hashtag #SBS. At 8 pm the following evening, Theo announces his six winners.
Wordhouse Writing Services, owned by Gill Pavey, was announced as one of the winners on 6th October and the award was made last night by Theo himself. The business, which provides proofreading, copy-writing and copyediting services to clients across the globe, has only been operating for two years. It is one of only a handful of Irish businesses to win the award since it started in 2011.
After the win, Gill said: ‘This award will bring new opportunities to Wordhouse, not just a tremendous boost to business but the chance to mix with talented people from other businesses and learn from them. I hope it will encourage more people to start up a small business, and succeed.
